About the role

Provide engineering services in support of systems and equipment associated with research efforts within an academic or research unit or laboratory. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: unit management and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit management and staff. This position will supervise: NA

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, installation and testing of systems and components.
• Develop engineering project schedules, plans, and specifications for systems and components.
• C Conduct analyses of system performance; prescribe corrective action where required.
• Troubleshoot systems; may involve calibration and repair work.
• Prepare drawings, schematic diagrams and other documentation associated with components and systems.
• Provide input to and administer project engineering budgets.
• Interact with vendors regarding procurement and delivery issues.
• Participate in project reviews for conformance to quality standards and compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Other Required Qualifications: Valid Driver's license
• This is a temporary position, limited to 1300 hours or 12 consecutive months, and subject to ACA and GT guidelines for temporary employment.

Qualifications

• Additional Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineer (PE)
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in combustion, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer
• Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
• Strong mechanical design & analysis
• Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
