Responsibilities
- Synthesis and formulation of polymer coating materials, ensuring consistency and adherence to performance specifications by rigorously following work instructions.
- Work closely with operations and R&D teams.
- Perform Quality Control (QC) testing to ensure compliance with the QC protocol, including:
- FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) for chemical characterization.
- Refractometer for refractive index measurements.
- Durometer for hardness testing.
- Rheometer for viscosity and rheological property evaluations.
- Participate in quality audits to ensure compliance with work instructions and quality standards of final products.
- Maintain a well-organized, clean, and efficient coating laboratory by applying Lean principles (6S, etc.) to strive toward manufacturing excellence, high yield, and cost reduction.
- Maintain detailed records of production and R&D activities, ensuring data integrity and compliance with company standards.
- Follow established site safety protocols, share suggestions for continuous improvement with the safety team, and promote a culture of safety within the laboratory environment.
Qualifications
- Some college education preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in a laboratory environment.
Skills
- Experience in materials synthesis and coating formulation blending, particularly for production environments.
- Hands-on experience with QC instruments, including FTIR, refractometer, durometer, viscometer, and rheometer.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Adherence to Lean manufacturing principles and 6S practices.
