Responsibilities

• Synthesis and formulation of polymer coating materials, ensuring consistency and adherence to performance specifications by rigorously following work instructions.
• Work closely with operations and R&D teams.
• Perform Quality Control (QC) testing to ensure compliance with the QC protocol, including:
  • FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) for chemical characterization.
  • Refractometer for refractive index measurements.
  • Durometer for hardness testing.
  • Rheometer for viscosity and rheological property evaluations.
• Participate in quality audits to ensure compliance with work instructions and quality standards of final products.
• Maintain a well-organized, clean, and efficient coating laboratory by applying Lean principles (6S, etc.) to strive toward manufacturing excellence, high yield, and cost reduction.
• Maintain detailed records of production and R&D activities, ensuring data integrity and compliance with company standards.
• Follow established site safety protocols, share suggestions for continuous improvement with the safety team, and promote a culture of safety within the laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Some college education preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in a laboratory environment.

Skills

• Experience in materials synthesis and coating formulation blending, particularly for production environments.
• Hands-on experience with QC instruments, including FTIR, refractometer, durometer, viscometer, and rheometer.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Adherence to Lean manufacturing principles and 6S practices.
