Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Ski Tune Shop Manager to lead tuning operations in a high-performance, guest-focused environment in Telluride. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional equipment quality, efficient shop throughout, and strong team leadership in a fast-paced, premium rental and retail setting. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring advanced tuning expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to perform under peak-season pressure while maintaining the highest standards. Key Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Recruit, train, schedule, and develop tuning technicians to ensure a high-performing team. Establish clear expectations and maintain accountability across all staff. Understand and enforce safety initiatives in alignment with company and industry guidelines. Adhere to all Telluride Ski & Golf policies and procedures. Promote, support, and stay informed on all on- and off-mountain activities and events. Communicate company-wide updates and new information effectively to staff. Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for assigned locations. Maintain proficiency in POS systems, including opening and closing procedures as well as reporting. Lead daily operations, monitoring performance, budgets, scheduling, and payroll. Hire and train employees in tune machine operations and product knowledge. Monitor team performance and conduct, providing timely feedback, recognition, and corrective action when needed. Participate in leadership forums, contributing feedback on store performance, training, and continuous improvement initiatives. Support other departments within the Retail/Rental division as needed. Perform additional duties, tasks, or special projects as assigned. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Daily Operations of tuning guests and rental fleet skis Return guests’ skis and rental skis to their proper location before the next day of business. Maintaining an efficient work flow process Maintain the tune machine on a regular basis to ensure integrity of the machine throughout the season. Maintain workshop standards Communicate with Montana when supplies are needed for the tune machine Order and manage inventory of repair supplies as needed Maintain the main line of communication between the stores and tune shop Train tune shop staff on proper use of tune machine Inspect finished equipment to ensure all repairs and tunes meet safety and quality standards Train / instruct rental / retail shops on how to inspect customer gear and recommendations on what tune to suggest. Driving at night Drive tuning shop revenue through training stores and staff on upselling tune services Manage labor and operational cost efficiency Identify opportunities to improve workflow, reduce downtime, and increase output Shoulder Season Essential Duties And Responsibilities Clean / maintenance of tuning machines and fleet vehicle Support / assist Telluride Sports rental shops in their seasonal transitions Support other departments in the Retail / Rental division Qualifications Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education And/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 1-5 years in a ski shop or similar industry role. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Retail Point of Sale Systems, proficient in using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint, internet search engines, basic accounting, and Adobe. Other Qualifications Must possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently as well as basic computer knowledge: ▪ Strong communication and problem-solving skills. ▪ Must be able to identify areas that may need improvement and have initiative to seek solutions. ▪ Must be a team player. ▪ Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, weekends and overtime. Expected Pay Range $57,000 to $67,000 plus seasonal bonus opportunity. Individual compensation decisions are based on experience and variety of factors.
