Teller/Member Service Representative (Bilingual Required)

About the role
This position combines the responsibilities of a Teller and a Member Service Representative (MSR). You will use Rogue Credit Union’s Service Promises to build long-term member loyalty by processing financial transactions accurately and identifying members’ unique financial needs. You’ll suggest appropriate products and services, open new accounts, guide members through loan applications, and assist with other financial needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist members with all membership and account needs, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, money orders, traveler’s checks, and transfers.
- Process closed accounts, open new memberships, Certificates, IRAs, Trust Accounts, and consumer loans, and perform account maintenance for existing and new members.
- Maintain and balance cash drawer and daily transactions accurately.
- Promote a needs-based sales culture by cross-selling credit union products and services to meet members’ needs.
- Interview members to determine their financial needs, suggest appropriate products, and open deposit and savings accounts, certificates, IRAs, and Trust Accounts.
- Take consumer loan applications and collaborate with support departments to serve members effectively.
- Prepare member files and documents while maintaining confidentiality.
- Respond promptly to member requests, questions, and concerns by finding appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate with other departments and branches to maintain high service standards across the credit union.
- Perform other duties as needed, including branch opening and closing tasks.
Requirements
- One to three years of similar or related experience.
- A high school education or GED.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including courtesy, tact, and diplomacy for frequent personal contact.
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
- Ability to sell and refer products based on member needs.
- Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work under occasional pressure.
- Attention to detail and quality.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in computer and 10-key calculator use.
Physical Requirements
- Some lifting required (up to 30 pounds).
- Continuous sitting, occasional standing, and walking.
- Finger dexterity for computer use.
- Occasional talking and hearing in person and on the telephone.
- Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
Schedule
- Normal workday with occasional overtime.
- Requires working Saturdays and a rotating, flexible schedule.
- Travel to other Rogue Credit Union regions may be required.
