About the Role
The Teller serves as the primary point of contact for customers and non-customers, providing outstanding customer service throughout interactions. Tellers perform a variety of customer transactions daily, provide information, resolve issues, and identify opportunities to strengthen customer relationships by suggesting other bank products and services.
To support employee engagement and retention within the Customer Service department, employees must remain in their current role/branch for at least 6 months before applying for another position, with potential exceptions discussed with a Customer Service Officer.
Responsibilities
- Accept and accurately process all financial transactions.
- Maintain responsibility for cash drawer and follow proper balancing procedures.
- Handle semi-routine assignments, recognizing deviations from accepted practices.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer questions and concerns.
- Cross-sell other bank services and refer customers to other departments to meet management goals.
- Learn and maintain knowledge of products, fees, and policies; stay current on offerings to make product suggestions.
- Demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations applicable to the role.
- Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws, and regulations.
- Complete compliance training and follow internal processes and controls.
- Report all compliance issues or violations of law/regulations according to bank policies.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- High school diploma.
- Cash handling experience preferred.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Previous sales and customer service experience preferred.
- Effective communication skills, promoting the bank’s customer service philosophy.
- Basic math skills and proficient computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
Working Environment
- Indoor work, not exposed to outdoor elements or hazards.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods.
- Some sedentary work, with occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
