Television Production Assistant

Essential Job Functions

• Aid in recording and editing content material for broadcast.
• Assist students during video production lab hours.
• Participate in pre and postproduction projects.
• Maintain and protect equipment.
• Manage programming/broadcasting logs as needed.

• Willing to travel for production shoots as necessary.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Self-starter with demonstrated creative and critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Flexible work schedule, including some nights and weekends.

Physical Demands

• Driving long distances (valid driver’s license).
• Lifting (50 lbs), carrying (50 lbs), stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, walking, standing, sitting.
• Use of hands to finger, handle, and feel.
• Eye-hand coordination (close vision at 20’).
• Cognitive ability (clear thinking, discernment, and decision-making).
• Read, write, problem-solve, use of discretion.

Required Qualifications

• Basic understanding and willingness to learn all aspects of television production including video/digital camera usage, video editing, live streaming, and audio recording.
• Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro editing software, Logic Pro X, and Apple software.
• Experience working in pre and post television productions.
• Working knowledge of professional journalist ethics and standards, First Amendment rights, and legal issues.
• Effective communication skills, both verbally and written, with minimal supervision experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, media, television production, etc.
• Related experiences.
• Demonstrate excellence in working individually and with production teams.
• Work well with students to complete projects and meet deadlines.
