About The Role
The Teleradiology Assistant plays a key role in ensuring smooth communication and workflow between physicians, hospitals, clinics, outside clients, and internal departments. This position supports radiologists and operational teams by managing inquiries, coordinating information, and maintaining accurate documentation across multiple systems. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison among physicians, hospitals, clinics, billing/legal departments, outside teleradiology clients, and IT support.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding completed procedures and direct them to the appropriate physician or facility.
- Make and answer phone calls to support customer service and radiologist requests; document all calls in the reading platform.
- Route inquiries to Human Resources, Scheduling, Finance, Credentialing, and other departments to maintain efficient communication.
- Maintain accuracy and timeliness of paperwork and calls related to outside reads; distribute faxes and complete data entry for portal clients.
- Manage incoming mail and faxes, ensuring timely distribution to appropriate team members.
- Navigate multiple applications and systems as needed.
- Avoid scheduling Outside Read exams into Clario when possible.
- Avoid initiating IR physicians and case dispatching; confirm doctor-to-doctor communication and coordinate dispatch teams and anesthesiologists.
- Provide professional, timely customer service to clients, radiologists, patients, and colleagues.
- Monitor the “Assigned to TA” list and communicate with facilities to resolve issues promptly.
- Communicate Teleradiology issues to managers and physicians.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Maintain equipment in good working order.
- Ensure timely and accurate report handling.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of physician schedules and shifts.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Data entry experience is preferred; familiarity with Microsoft Access and Excel is helpful.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent customer service abilities are essential.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment with professionalism is required.
