EK Health is hiring a Part-Time Telephonic Nurse Case Manager (RN) to assess, plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate service options. The goal is to assist injured workers in receiving appropriate, cost-effective medical care and expedite their return to work.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 20-25 hours per week, between 9am-5:30pm PST. Requires a CA RN license in good standing. Workers' Compensation experience preferred but not required. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with medical providers, employers, and injured workers
- Perform a complete nursing evaluation to determine patient needs
- Review and evaluate medical correspondence, provider reports, and treatment plan history
- Evaluate clinical status of claimant and research alternative treatment options as warranted
- Communicate with claims examiners regarding directives and provide file status updates
- Arrange transportation services when necessary and authorized
- Evaluate therapy facilities and their progress on specific cases
- Prepare comprehensive notes following discussions with injured workers, medical providers, claims examiners, and employers
- Discuss analyzed data and the comprehensive plan of care with the insurance representative prior to implementation
- Upon authorization, implement the plan of care with the patient, physician, and healthcare providers
- Arrange for care/services as needed (home care, procedures, medication, equipment, or supplies)
- Monitor the plan of care and suggest modifications or changes to the patient and physician as needed
- Coordinate information between all parties (injured worker, physicians, employer, therapists, and attorney, if involved)
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- 3-5 years of clinical experience as an RN outside of school
- Valid CA RN license in good standing with no restrictions
- Valid state-appropriate RN license in good standing with no restrictions
- Professional and technical skills of a Registered Nurse
- Experience in Case Management; Workers' Compensation experience preferred but not required
- Experience in Home Health Care or Occupational Health considered a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- High comfort level with computers and programs (MS Word, MS Excel, Email)
