Job Summary

Professionally handles all calls, alarms and radio communication through the switchboard.

Pay

  • $18.40 per hour

Schedule

  • Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Housing

  • Eligible for a private room in a shared apartment for $267 per month.

Responsibilities

  • Continually focus on providing exceptional guest service as a primary goal, both in how work is conducted and when interacting with guests.
  • Process calls, respond to alarms, handles radio communication and other basic switchboard operations following policy and procedures.
  • Supervise staff to ensure proper guest service is provided for all calls/radio communication by providing appropriate training on telephone and radio communications in a switchboard setting.
  • Ensure appropriate coverage is provided by maintaining appropriate staffing levels and proper scheduling.
  • Continually focus on providing exceptional guest service as a primary goal.
  • Determine the source of different trouble and alarm signals, responding per trained company standards.
  • Determine proper actions and notifications required based on response matrix and Switchboard policy and procedures.
  • Take appropriate notes of emergency situations to document events after they have occurred.
  • Provide Grand Canyon National Park Lodges property information to callers according to Switchboard policy and procedures.
  • Use professional discretion when divulging information and activities to callers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous telephone switchboard operator, PBX, dispatch or front desk experience.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills and professional telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to communicate clearly through written communication including emails, shift notes and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to maintain a calm professional demeanor under potentially stressful and/or emergency situation(s).
  • Ability to effectively learn and utilize two-way radio communications and pagers.
  • Ability to work in close quarters with co-workers and maintain a positive workplace.
  • Ability to sit/remain sedentary for long periods of time with limited exposure outside of the switchboard throughout your shift.
