About the role

Telemundo Abilene seeks a bilingual News Anchor/Producer/MMJ for their evening newscasts. Ideal candidates should be able to present a clear, engaging, and meaningful Spanish-language news product while immersing themselves in the community.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary presenter of news stories and other content across various platforms including TV, internet, mobile, etc.
• Write compelling scripts for video footage and review/edit video clips for quality, continuity, and accuracy.
• Work with management to develop and enterprise stories daily.
• Demonstrate compelling storytelling through dynamic live shots, stand-ups, creative graphics, and use of digital and social media platforms.
• Organize material, determine angles or emphases, and write stories according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
• Gather and verify information regarding stories through interviews, observations, and research.
• Build a network of sources to keep the company ahead of competitors.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Communication/Journalism or related field required (equivalent experience may substitute for education).
• Three (3) years of television anchoring or reporting experience required.
• Strong vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation.
• Solid reporting skills.
• Bilingual.
• Understanding of the importance of social media.
• Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and organizational skills.
• Promote teamwork and maintain a cooperative attitude with all station personnel.
• Ability to operate newsroom computer systems.
