About the role
Oceans Behavioral Hospital Waco is dedicated to helping adults and seniors manage mental health challenges through various therapeutic approaches. The hospital employs a multidisciplinary team that includes therapists who provide direct clinical services, including assessments, interventions, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct clinical services in accordance with accepted standards of social/work clinical practice.
- Plans and conducts individual, family, and/or group therapy as assigned.
- Conducts, assesses, and interprets comprehensive integrated assessments.
- Reviews and compiles multidisciplinary treatment plans under the supervision of the attending physician.
- Performs case management and discharge planning as assigned.
- Attends multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, updates on assigned patients, and integrates reports from all disciplines into a summary facilitating patient progress.
- Demonstrates ethical care promoting patient dignity and satisfaction, assessing and interpreting patient responses, and communicating effectively with patients and their families.
- Conducts treatment and discharge planning considering patient needs and involving support systems.
Requirements
- LMSW, LCSW, or LPC, LPC-A (TX Only).
- 0 to 1 year post-graduate experience in clinical practice.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related disability-related needs.
- Knowledge of principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served.
- Ability to assess and interpret data about the patient's status to identify needs and provide appropriate care, including age-specific care for adolescents, chronically mentally ill, adults, geriatric, chemically dependent, and dually diagnosed patients.
- In-depth knowledge of mental illness and chemical dependency and the family dynamics accompanying them.
- Basic knowledge of chronic mental illness.
- In-depth knowledge of clinical therapy modalities.
- Excellent communication and group/process skills as related to age-specific patient needs.
- Assessment, intervention, treatment, and discharge planning skills.
- Ability to pass the general age/disability post-test.
- Versatility, flexibility, and ability to cope with stress.
- Good time and organizational skills.
- Capable of coordinating multi-faceted workload.
- Ability to work with an array of mental/physical disabled persons.
- CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral de-escalation program.
