About the Role

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will care for children and adults with eating disorders in a 100% virtual telehealth platform. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP) are essential members of Equip's 5-person virtual treatment team, working alongside a therapist, dietitian, peer mentor, and family mentor to help people recover from eating disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and ongoing medication management for psychiatrically complex patients with eating disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and consultation to outside psychiatric providers for ongoing treatment with this provider.
  • Implement medication treatment plans for individuals with eating disorders and co-occurring conditions in a virtual clinic (i.e., telehealth) setting.
  • Evaluate eating disorder-related medical risk within the psychiatric scope of care, including how ED behaviors may affect psychiatric symptoms, medication decisions, safety, and level of care needs.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team of medical providers, dietitians, therapists, patient mentors, and family mentors, along with outside providers.
  • Utilize between-session messaging to support patients and communicate with the treatment team through Equip’s EMR in accordance with Equip’s policies and procedures.
  • Engage and collaborate in treatment team meetings, supervision, learning opportunities, and department meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Maintain an active license to practice in the state(s) that their patients reside and/or be willing to become licensed in other states (paid for by Equip).
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent evidence-based care, advancing clinical skills, and a passion for professional development.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and patients' carers, and respond to messages within a timely manner.
  • Be curious, enjoy learning, and participate enthusiastically in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Comfort and experience treating patients with eating disorders, emotion dysregulation, suicidal ideation, substance use, trauma, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
  • Adhere to a HAES (Health At Every Size) and gender-affirming approach to care.

Schedule

  • Full-time position allowing patient scheduling Monday - Friday, between 8 am - 8 pm in the patient's timezone.
  • Ability to provide direct patient care, including new patients and follow-up sessions.
  • Commit to working until 6 pm two evenings per week (you choose which evenings).
  • Attend mandatory meetings (e.g., Group Supervision, Treatment Huddles, Labs/All Hands, Individual Supervision, etc.).
  • Eastern Time Zone working hours.

Pay

Earning Potential Range: $120,000 - $150,000 annually + 15% Performance Bonus Potential.

  • Unlimited online courses through NetCE for therapists and medical providers.
  • Up to $1,000/year stipend for continuing education.
  • Equip reimburses fees associated with initial licensure and license renewals (e.g., exam fees, application to the state board, exam study materials) for any Equip-required licenses and/or cross-licensure requests.
  • $50/month stipend added directly to an employee’s paycheck to cover home internet expenses.
  • Initial work-from-home stipend of up to $500.
  • Reload of $200 on the home office stipend at the 3-year mark and then every other year after that (year 5, year 7, etc.).
  • Company-provided laptop.

Physical Demands

Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
