Telecommunications Lead Installer - Level IV

About the role
The Telecommunications Lead Installer - Level IV will provide detailed installation, re-configuration/integration, removal, and maintenance of Central Office equipment, including Transmission, Power, Infrastructure, and Fiber systems with minimal supervision. This role requires supervising assigned crew members and their performance.
Responsibilities
- Master all installation skills per Telco Standard TP76300 and perform all duties of an Installer Level IV with a high degree of competence and accuracy as a Working Lead.
- Demonstrate comprehensive equipment installation skills on a wide variety of systems, including AC/DC Power systems, low/high-density fiber systems, Central Office Infrastructure, and supervisory/alarm systems.
- Work with transport equipment from vendors such as Ciena, Fujitsu, Cisco, Nortel, Nokia, DELL, and Juniper.
- Apply deep understanding of fiber installation standards and procedures.
- Lead installation projects successfully.
- Read and follow Method of Procedures, order specifications, floor plans, equipment, and wiring documentation.
- Ensure accuracy of all required documentation.
- Interface with customers, vendors, and other company employees to complete testing and turn-up of equipment.
- Perform system testing for turn-up and integration.
- Supervise lower-level Installers/Technicians in basic installation and testing requirements.
- Maintain an elevated understanding of company policies, safety procedures, paperwork, and administrative requirements.
- Review subordinate’s time and expense documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Comply with system update requirements for all company/customer installation documents.
- Resolve project-related issues using defined processes.
- Read, understand, and apply job/equipment specifications, installation documents, schematics, and test records.
- Generate MOPs, High-risk activity reports, work schedules, test records, and project completion reports.
- Perform in-process and final quality audits to ensure all items meet or exceed industry and/or customer standards.
- Interact with all members of the organization, including Installation, Engineering, and Project Management teams.
- Direct and perform the following work operations without supervision:
- Physically place, remove, or modify working and non-working equipment.
- Install cable trays and/or racking from drawings and engineering documents.
- Install telecommunications equipment cabinets and frames, data servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, and firewalls.
- Install BDFBs and fuse panels with associated cabling.
- Identify, label, measure, terminate, and physically route cables that supply AC/DC power or transmit data.
- Conduct testing and document performance characteristics of hardware and software; determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing systems.
- Perform advanced test and turn-up as well as other integration activities.
- Resolve equipment and technical issues as they arise.
- Perform quality validation on in-process and completed work.
- Perform other duties as requested, with specific duties evolving based on business and client needs.
Requirements
- Minimum 8+ years of installation experience or a combination of experience and training as determined by company management.
- Prior leadership experience required.
- AT&T direct Central Office Installation experience is a plus.
- High school diploma with two years of technical school or a combination of training and experience related to telecommunications field installations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
- Proficient laptop computer skills and experience with applications.
- Full understanding of all company/customer policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass all pre-employment background checks; must be insurable.
- Valid passport is a plus.
Physical/Work Environment
- Must comply with OSHA Standards.
- Travel required in your home region and across the U.S. without restrictions; ability to travel internationally is a plus.
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts and travel extensively, with expenses 100% paid by the employer.
- Ability to vertically lift 50 lbs.
- Required to stand, walk, climb ladders, and crawl in tight spaces.
Pay
Base Pay Range: $68,000 USD - $78,000 USD. Actual compensation is influenced by skill set, level of experience, and location. In addition to wages, employees may be eligible for performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, tool/equipment and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem, or other applicable compensation.
