About the role
The Telecommunications Engineer, Journeyman position is integral to implementing and maintaining advanced telecommunications infrastructure supporting a dynamic, globally distributed intelligence-sharing environment. The role requires deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of secure communications systems.
Responsibilities
- Supports Coalition Integration Lab’s engineering and testing requirements
- Supports and deploys US BICES bi-lat systems and networking
- Collaborates with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems
- Works with executive team members to define business requirements and systems goals, and resolve business systems issues
- Designs and defines network architecture for new or existing computer systems
- Performs complex network development and design work
- Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements
- Develops and conducts tests to ensure networks meet documented user requirements
- Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems
- Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance
- Determines network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
- Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques
- Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment
- Participates in special projects as assigned
Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
- BA/BS degree & 2+ years experience – additional experience may substitute degree
- Must possess a completed CCNA certification
- Must meet DOD 8750 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II (one of the following- Sec+,GSEC,SSCP or CCNA SEC) access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges and must obtain ITIL V4 Foundation within six months of hire
- Knowledge and experience with data center networking
- Experience with Multicast
- Experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets
- Basic Understanding of Broadcom’s NSX-T
- Knowledge and experience with F5-OS and F5 BIG-IP’s LTM and APM
- Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.)
- Knowledge and experience with HAIPE-based encryption devices
- Knowledge and experience with maintaining COMSEC accounts
- Knowledge and experience with current Juniper JUNOS software and hardware
- Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and NXOS software and hardware
- Knowledge and experience with Firepower Management Center and Firepower Threat Defense
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels
Qualifications
- Must have completed any CISCO Advanced certifications
- Completed any JUNIPER Advanced certifications preferred
- Knowledge of Virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft preferred
- Understanding of concepts presented in the VMware Data Center Virtualization Fundamentals course preferred
- Knowledge of Automation technologies for Networking (Ansible/Python) preferred
- VDI experience highly desired
Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques
- Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment
Benefits
Pay Range: $59,150.00 - $106,925.00
