Responsibilities
- Design structured cabling systems for buildings, campuses, and tenant spaces.
- Typical work product includes a set of drawings and specifications such as a cover sheet, floor plans, riser diagrams, part plans, and details.
- Update specifications to match client needs or standards.
- Ensure designs meet local, state, and federal code requirements.
- Collaborate and coordinate with Project Managers and other design team members.
- Find and efficiently solve design problems, and communicate unresolved items for review.
- Communicate with manufacturers and contractors to address challenges and develop realistic solutions.
- Prepare contract documents that meet required codes and quality assurance standards.
- All deliverables are subject to a Quality Assurance and Quality Control review.
- Attend site visits, out of office client meetings as needed.
- Proactively expand your skillset with cross training in related disciplines and by attending in-house or external training.
- Participate in meetings, initiatives, and projects that support Business Center and company goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, etc.).
- Minimum 7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of other experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software; in particular, Revit MEP and AutoCAD MEP.
- RCDD or prepping for the RCDD license examination is a plus.
- Relevant design experience in projects of diverse types and sizes including high rise commercial office, high rise residential, hospitality, health care, educational, data center and outside plant infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Network, Wireless, Access Control, CCTV, and Audiovisual Design requirements.
- Ability to prepare detailed design drawings.
- Ability to integrate design elements with architectural, civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
- Basic knowledge of applicable codes and standards including ANSI/TIA and BICSI best practices.
- Ability to demonstrate a credible and trustworthy presence through professionalism and demeanor.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare and present accurate, professionally written reports and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Must be able to clearly communicate with team members and clients and clarify if necessary.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Skills
- Building Information Modeling (BIM) software proficiency, particularly Revit MEP and AutoCAD MEP.
- Experience with structured cabling design and implementation.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes and industry standards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
