Responsibilities

  • Design structured cabling systems for buildings, campuses, and tenant spaces.
  • Typical work product includes a set of drawings and specifications such as a cover sheet, floor plans, riser diagrams, part plans, and details.
  • Update specifications to match client needs or standards.
  • Ensure designs meet local, state, and federal code requirements.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Project Managers and other design team members.
  • Find and efficiently solve design problems, and communicate unresolved items for review.
  • Communicate with manufacturers and contractors to address challenges and develop realistic solutions.
  • Prepare contract documents that meet required codes and quality assurance standards.
  • All deliverables are subject to a Quality Assurance and Quality Control review.
  • Attend site visits, out of office client meetings as needed.
  • Proactively expand your skillset with cross training in related disciplines and by attending in-house or external training.
  • Participate in meetings, initiatives, and projects that support Business Center and company goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, etc.).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of other experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software; in particular, Revit MEP and AutoCAD MEP.
  • RCDD or prepping for the RCDD license examination is a plus.
  • Relevant design experience in projects of diverse types and sizes including high rise commercial office, high rise residential, hospitality, health care, educational, data center and outside plant infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Network, Wireless, Access Control, CCTV, and Audiovisual Design requirements.
  • Ability to prepare detailed design drawings.
  • Ability to integrate design elements with architectural, civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable codes and standards including ANSI/TIA and BICSI best practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate a credible and trustworthy presence through professionalism and demeanor.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare and present accurate, professionally written reports and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to clearly communicate with team members and clients and clarify if necessary.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Skills

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) software proficiency, particularly Revit MEP and AutoCAD MEP.
  • Experience with structured cabling design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes and industry standards.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management and coordination abilities.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
