Required Skills And Abilities

• Knowledgeable in the HICS Emergency Notification Process. (Required proficiency)
• Demonstrates a good working knowledge of all processes associated with the Telecommunications Operator position. (Required proficiency)
• Capable of multi-tasking with numerous interruptions. (Required proficiency)

What you will do

• Answering and distributing all incoming calls in a timely and accurate manner.
• Providing operator assistance to all callers as needed/requested.
• Monitoring the Simplex system and taking appropriate actions when / if necessary.
• Activating the EMERGENCY TONE as needed for Code Blue and designated Severe Weather.
• Answering 6444 Emergency Assistance Line and following the policy / procedure.
• Making overhead announcements, which may include Code Blue, Severe Weather alert, and Fire Alarm.
• Monitoring the National Weather service radio, Local TV station, and / or National Weather Service email and implementing department procedure.
• Initiating the Emergin pages as requested/needed per procedure/policy.
• Documenting and keeping detailed records in appropriate logs within the Telecommunications department.
• Negotiating potential process / system problems that could cause outages and / or delays and notifying appropriate management.
• Sending alerts and / or messages through Vocera Web Console.
• Contacting various On-Call staff as needed/requested per policy / procedure, including Administrator On-Call.
• Issuing “loaner” equipment such as, pagers, Vocera devices, Verizon cell phones, UBIDuo and speaker phones per policy/procedure as needed/requested.
