About the role
The Salvation Army Kroc Center in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Tee Ball Coach to join our team. This position is part-time and regular.
Responsibilities
- Teach beginners and intermediate learners in tee ball
- Communicate effectively with both small and large groups
- Provide individual guidelines for development in assigned sport
- Create, teach, implement, and demonstrate planned practices and performances
- Write and follow class outlines
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- A minimum of 16 years old
- One year of experience in sports or related coaching
- Working knowledge of various sports (volleyball, basketball, flag football, soccer, etc.)
- Ability to work and relate well with people, and project a friendly, customer service demeanor
- Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment
- Meet all Health Department and Salvation Army health & safety regulations
- Good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the climbing wall, gymnasium, and athletic field programs
- Philosophy oriented towards childhood education & child development
- Demonstrated ability to work with children, parents, & staff in a capacity of leadership, mentoring, and education
- Relate joyfully and sensitively to children of all ages
- Sensitivity to children's individual needs
- Use appropriate positive corrective measures consistently
- Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem-solving
Physical Requirements
- Regularly walk, stand, climb or balance
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to operate a telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information
