About the role

The position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the appearance of all hard surface floors throughout the facility, according to standard procedures. Assigned areas may include administrative offices, lobby, hallways, and public restrooms.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out sweeping, mopping, stripping, and refinishing of hard floor surfaces following standard operational procedures.
  • Sweeps and cleans carpets following standard operational procedures.
  • Moves furniture and other objects as necessary to complete floor care and returns all items to their original place at the end of the task.
  • Supervises supplies and requests additional cleaning solutions as necessary.
  • Guarantees that all floor care machines are kept clean and in proper working condition.
  • Reports to his/her immediate supervisor any conditions requiring maintenance or repair attention.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Requirements, Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

  • Prior high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of experience as a floor technician required.
  • Practical knowledge of all types of floor surfaces, their proper care, and the correct use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions in English.

Work Environment

Works in office areas and throughout the facility. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting objects intermittently; reaching, grasping, squatting, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and general hand use; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and moving furniture.

Operates motorized equipment such as floor strippers, polishers, and deep cleaning machines.

Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals such as cleaning solutions.
