Technology Transfer Compliance Associate, Office of Innovation

About the role

The Office of Commercialization (OOC) at the University of Cincinnati seeks a Technology Transfer Compliance Associate to join its Commercialization Compliance team. This position is ideal for a paralegal or someone with experience in intellectual property, patent prosecution, docketing, and portfolio management.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patent drafting and prosecution activities
• Maintain accurate intellectual property and patent records
• Assist with patent filings and related documentation
• Manage the review and approval process for patent annuities and maintenance fees
• Support intellectual property-related compliance requirements

Essential Functions

• Track patent/legal expenses and license income
• Monitor and/or review agreements to ensure contractual financial and performance compliance
• Issue invoices for patent/legal expenses and license income
• Distribute royalty income to partners, inventors, departments and colleges
• Review and track invention disclosures for reporting requirements to funders, including Federal research sponsors
• Report inventions, patent filings and license income as required by funders, including Federal research sponsors
• Maintain informational databases to meet any office needs including License and Invention Reporting Compliance

Required Education and Experience

• Associate's Degree
• Three (3) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement
• One (1) year of related experience
