SLB is the world's leading provider of technology and services to the energy industry. With operations in more than 100 countries, we are at the forefront of energy innovation — driving the transition toward a more sustainable and efficient energy future. Joining SLB means being part of a global team that values excellence, integrity, and impact.

About the role

We are looking for a talented and business-minded attorney to join our legal team as Regional Legal Counsel for the US and Canada. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role embedded within a dynamic regional business team, where you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across multiple business functions. You will be the go-to legal partner for the region — handling everything from complex commercial transactions and compliance matters to litigation management and corporate governance. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy solving real business problems, and want your legal work to have direct impact, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive and practical legal guidance on employment and labor law, corporate governance, and operational compliance across the US and Canada.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with local and international legal requirements.
  • Lead and support negotiations of customer, vendor, and other commercial contracts, ensuring SLB's interests are protected while enabling business growth.
  • Manage disputes, regulatory inquiries, and litigation matters, coordinating with outside counsel and internal stakeholders to mitigate legal and business risk.
  • Champion SLB's Ethics & Compliance program, including anti-corruption, trade controls, and data privacy initiatives.
  • Conduct compliance investigations and support a culture of integrity throughout the region.
  • Provide legal support for corporate governance, entity management, M&A activity, government relations, and regulatory filings within the region.
  • Oversee the engagement, quality, and cost-effectiveness of outside legal counsel.
  • Identify and support legal frameworks for new business opportunities and growth initiatives in the region.

Requirements

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school; admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing.
  • 2–7 years of relevant legal experience, whether in a law firm, in-house, or both.
  • Strong business judgment and ability to provide practical, solution-oriented legal advice.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a complex, fast-moving environment.
  • Experience in commercial contracting, compliance, or corporate matters strongly preferred.
  • Litigation background is a plus.

Benefits

  • Global platform with exposure to complex, cross-border legal matters.
  • Collaborative and high-performing legal team with strong internal support.
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Opportunity to grow within one of the most recognized names in the energy industry.
  • A culture built on innovation, inclusion, and long-term impact.
