TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR INTERN
About the role
The Carroll Center for the Blind is a private, non-profit agency located in Newton, Massachusetts that serves persons of All Ages and All Stages of Vision Loss. We are close to Boston, Cambridge, Wellesley, Watertown, Waltham, Allston/Brighton, and on public transit routes.
Hours & Stipend
Hours: 22.5 hours per week | Duration: 350 hours
Stipend: $2000 stipend may be available for interns enrolled in an Assistive Technology Certification or related Graduate Program, who complete the full 350 hour internship
*Please Note: A CATIS-certified supervisor is available for those pursuing the Certified Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist (CATIS) credential
Who We Seek

You’ll help empower individuals through technology while building the skills you need for a rewarding career in the field.
What You'll Do
- Support instruction in mobile device and computer classes.
- Aid with both low-vision and non-visual technology tools (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, ZoomText, Fusion, etc.).
- Help clients troubleshoot and configure assistive tech.
- Review assignments and support technology-based learning activities.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to client progress reports.
- Draft and submit performance reports and updates.
- Take on additional duties as needed to support the technology team.
Qualifications
- Some college experience in any field, enrolled in an Assistive Technology Certification or related Graduate Program, is a plus!
- Minimum of 6 months of teaching experience or equivalent.
- Experience with JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Talkback, ZoomText, Fusion, MacOS Zoom, and Windows Magnifier.
