About the role

As the Director of Enterprise Engineering - Practices and Platforms, your role is pivotal in aligning the engineering direction across all technology departments, spanning Digital, Retail, Infrastructure, Product, and Supply Chain. You will craft and execute a visionary strategy and roadmap for engineering standards that ensure the secure, reliable, and consistent development of technology, provide engineering insights, and develop core developer platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Global Practices Program:
    • Lead the Technology Practices, providing maturity guidelines and resources that empower teams throughout the enterprise.
    • Strengthen the program that establishes and adopts engineering standards, ensuring scalability and future-proofing to accommodate business growth.
    • Measure and improve engineering velocity, quality, and satisfaction.
    • Build productivity dashboards across engineering teams.
    • Establish industry standard metrics such as DORA and SPACE to capture the technical aspects of software development and the human and social factors that influence team performance.
    • Influence yearly financial investment decisions by shaping and enhancing these practices and standards.
  • Strategic Developers’ Platform Ownership:
    • Take ownership and operate strategic technical platforms, such as CI/CD and Observability, with the aim of accelerating organizational maturity and business value.
    • Deliver and maintain core engineering tools, environments, and internal developer platforms (IDPs).
    • Provide seamless onboarding for new developers with a goal of being able to check in code within 1 day.
    • Reduce build and deploy times by a measurable percentage.
    • Utilize these platforms to drive secure and reliable technology development, supporting the sustained growth of lululemon commerce.
  • Engineering Leadership:
    • Influence and guide Principal Engineering leadership through technical thought leadership, strategic partnership, investment alignment, and community building.
    • Demonstrate a strong leadership style that inspires, motivates, delegates, and coaches teams to achieve high performance and passion for their products and services.
    • Proactively build trusting relationships across the organization, including functional partners and global teams.
    • Foster a culture of inclusion, diversity, and equity in alignment with the organization’s IDEA commitment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of related work experience, with direct work experience across a variety of Engineering disciplines, including creating and managing communities of practice in large technology organizations (1k+ people).
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership position like Technology Director, or relevant management experience.
  • Role model and champion modern ways-of-working such as Agile, DevOps and related practices; actively participate in an architecture community.
  • Strong communication and “storytelling” skills – ability to articulate a vision or concept in simple terms to a broad audience at every level.

Pay

The typical hiring range for this position is from $190,400 – $249,900 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and equity offerings, subject to program eligibility requirements.

Schedule

Work is performed onsite, minimum 4 days per week.
