Technology Counsel - Data Licensing and Procurement (USA)
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate data licensing agreements across market and alternative data, with particular attention to commercial terms, usage rights, derived data, user obligations, audit, and exit options
- Lead technology procurement contracting: SaaS, cloud and data center agreements, software licenses, and professional services
- Help build and maintain templates, playbooks, intake processes, and contract tracking; bring discipline and institutional memory to a high-volume docket
- Manage the NDA program and the intellectual property terms within commercial agreements, including but not limited to derived data, open source, and AI use compliance
- Work alongside our senior counsel on ad hoc corporate matters as capacity allows. Potential exposure to the full range of legal work at an algorithmic trading firm
Requirements
- JD; admitted to practice in NY (or eligible for in-house registration)
- 1-3 years of relevant experience at a law firm, in-house at a financial services or technology company, or a combination
- Demonstrated drafting and negotiation skill in commercial technology contracts, with focus or strong interest in data and technology transactions
- Familiarity with one or more of: market and exchange data licensing, SaaS and cloud agreements, trade secrets protection, and IP licensing
- Strong commercial judgment; comfort working directly with business and research colleagues

Applications are open for both Stamford and New York City offices, the latter with a planned opening in October 2026.
Pay
The base salary range is $160,000 to $190,000 depending on the candidate's educational and professional background. Base salary is one component of Trexquant's total compensation, which may also include a discretionary, performance-based bonus.
