Technology Consultant - Java Backend Developer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer with strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, CI/CD, Cloud, and relational databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting scalable enterprise backend applications and APIs. The role requires close collaboration with development, QA, DevOps, and infrastructure teams. Exposure to .NET APIs, Mainframe applications, and test automation frameworks would be an advantage but is not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop scalable Microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Integrate applications with internal/external APIs, databases, and enterprise systems.
• Develop and optimize database queries using Oracle/SQL.
• Participate in application design, code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Support automated testing and collaborate with QA teams on functional and integration testing.
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment.
• Support containerized application deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Develop and deploy applications on AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
• Troubleshoot application and production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with .NET and Mainframe application teams for cross-platform integrations.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and follow software engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Java backend development, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• 3+ years of experience developing and integrating REST APIs and enterprise services.
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS/Azure and Oracle/SQL databases.

Skills

• Experience with automation testing frameworks/tools such as Cucumber, SOAtest, or SOASTA.
• Knowledge of API automation and integration testing.
• Experience working with hybrid technology environments involving Java, .NET, and Mainframe applications.
• Familiarity with Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience supporting high-volume enterprise applications.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Pay

The starting hourly range for this role is $60 to $66. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.

Location: Plano, Texas (Hybrid - work from client office every alternate week, all five days). Employment type: Temp (W2 only). Overall experience: 5+ years.
