Technologist - Flow Cytometry

The Flow Cytometry Laboratory performs specialized, high-complexity testing on various cellular components of the immune system. These assays provide key diagnostic information for leukemias and lymphomas and monitor the immune systems of patients, including those receiving bone marrow transplants or biologic response modifiers.
About the role
- Perform technical duties across all laboratory sections, as assigned.
- Review test orders and verify accuracy of corresponding specimens.
- Maintain digital files in a neat and accessible manner.
- Accurately maintain specimen identity from entry to result release.
- Navigate laboratory information systems proficiently.
- Contribute to the safety and cleanliness of the laboratory.
- Restock reagents and supplies as necessary.
- Ensure test accuracy by adhering to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Maintain the physical laboratory environment in compliance with New York State DOH, Joint Commission, OSHA, and CLIA regulations.
- Provide direction, training, and feedback on routine laboratory procedures, as assigned.
Requirements
- A current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (licenses restricted to flow cytometry are acceptable).
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- Some experience in flow cytometry is preferred.
- Candidates with a keen interest in flow cytometry and eagerness to learn will be considered for a Technologist I role; those with at least 2 years of clinical laboratory experience will be considered for a Technologist II role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Motivation to constantly learn and develop skills in a highly sophisticated and demanding laboratory setting.
Schedule
- 37.5 hours per week.
- Variable shift until 10pm, Monday to Saturday.
Pay
- Pay Range: $47.23 - $75.59 per hour.
- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.
