About the role
As a Technologist Trainee, you will join our team in Phoenix, AZ, and contribute to meaningful work that impacts health outcomes worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to grow your career while making a real difference in people’s lives.
Responsibilities
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
- Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Assist with processing specimens when needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
- One year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
- Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or prior Labcorp experience.
- ASCP or AMT certification.
Schedule
- Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Overtime required as needed.
- Training Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
