About the Role
Perform pretransfusion testing on the overnight shift for patient/donor blood specimens and prepare blood components for transfusion per physician requests. Perform and maintain competency in the technical and related work of the Blood Bank Laboratory. Verify patient identification at all steps of every procedure.
- Perform blood analyses and enter test results into LIS (laboratory information system).
- Verify the accuracy of specimens and document specimen collection information in LIS.
- Review all test requests for errors, omissions, clarity, and potential problems.
- Verify that test requests are appropriate for the specimen received and that the specimen meets all requirements before proceeding.
Work hours: 11pm to 7am Monday–Friday and every 3rd weekend (Friday night and Saturday night).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- NYS Technologist License.
Pay
$101,907.00 to $163,195.50 per year (equivalent to $52.26 - $83.69 per hour). Non-Exempt under FLSA.
Schedule
Overnight shift: 11pm to 7am Monday–Friday, plus every 3rd weekend (Friday night and Saturday night).
