Technologist 5 -- Electrical Design

About the role

Works on technical assignments relative to selected areas of design, analysis, testing, production planning, or manufacture of very complex technology. Has technical responsibility for interpreting, researching, planning, executing, and coordinating assignments that are given in terms of broad general objectives. May act as a lead person for other technologists mutually working on the same project. Makes recommendations or decisions on problems and methods to resolve important questions to plan and coordinate work.

Responsibilities

• Plans and directs the efforts on a project or projects of major significance.
• Has lead responsibility for maintaining and improving the process of a major program.
• As an individual contributor, conceptualizes, plans, and executes research or investigations into complex issues.
• Develops processes, materials, and/or equipment and fixtures as well as lead problem investigations in any related area.
• Keeps abreast of new technical/non-technical methods and developments in area of expertise and/or assigned areas of responsibility for purpose of recommending modifications and improvements.
• Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside the organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the area.
• Performs assigned work in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy.
• Assists in the training of new personnel.

Requirements

• B.S. or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Fifteen (15) years related experience.
• U.S. citizenship with (no dual citizenship) ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test, and previous employment reference verifications.

Pay

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) is expected to be between $86,450 and $136,000 per year. The base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. The total compensation package may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
