Technician-Unit Support - Full Time Days - Adult Surgical Unit - North

Schedule

Full-time day shift (3 × 12-hour shifts per week), 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Provide a combination of direct patient care and unit clerical duties for the department.
• Administer care to designated patients under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and support the patient care team.
• Ensure a clean and orderly environment for patients.
• Provide information, directions, and assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers, and vendors.
• Schedule tests and procedures for patients, maintain patient records, and sign patients in and out of the unit.
• Order, receive, and deliver equipment and supplies for the patient care team.
• Provide continuous observation, including suicide prevention, when required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CPR may be required.
• May be required to complete Unit Secretary training program.
• Previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or attainment at the completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Knowledge of principles of infection control.
• Basic computer skills.
