About the role
Launch Your Career as a Water Technician Trainee! As a Water Technician Trainee, you'll play a vital role in one of three essential maintenance programs: Valve Exercise, Fire Hydrant Maintenance, or Blowoff Maintenance. Our 3-month trainee program is designed to set you up for success, with clear pathways for career growth. Once you meet expectations, you'll have the opportunity to advance to Water Technician 1.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and repairs on water systems
- Assist with valve exercises, fire hydrant maintenance, and blowoff maintenance tasks
- Follow safety protocols and be aware of roadside hazards
- Adapt to various weather conditions including high heat, humidity, sudden storms, and cold temperatures
- Work in high-traffic areas, along busy streets, highways, and residential roads
- Operate in varied terrain such as embankments, uneven terrain, or wet conditions
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols
- Experience in a related field is a plus
- Pass a background check
- Pass a drug screening
- Basic knowledge of water systems and maintenance
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
