About the role

The Warranty Analysis Technician performs complete teardown analyses and testing in accordance with written instructions and established test procedures. This highly visible, solutions-oriented role requires a hands-on individual with a broad understanding of automotive engineering, manufacturing, and quality, who can apply proven technical expertise to identify the root cause of failures while maintaining unquestioned integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, remove, disassemble, repair, and evaluate automotive components and related parts.
  • Perform fabrication duties as operationally needed.
  • Set up and operate test equipment on warranty-returned components to evaluate functionality, performance, and other operating characteristics based on customer complaint data and observations, following standard test procedures.
  • Conduct dealership interviews and utilize corporate data systems (e.g., QNA, DIPAP) to assess repair information and determine root cause of complaints or failures.
  • Collaborate with suppliers regarding their testing procedures.
  • Document daily findings and root cause analysis results within the Part Return Analysis System (PRAS).
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and equipment.
  • Assist with special assignments as required.
  • Operate a Hi-Lo/forklift and stacker.
  • Support other component areas as business needs require.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Automotive Technology or an equivalent field.
  • Strong verbal, written, and record-keeping skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications (Windows-based software) and digital camera operation.
  • Experience using hand tools, bench tools, machine tools, and welding equipment.
  • Ability to systematically disassemble and analyze components and assemblies to determine root cause.
  • Ability to test and diagnose electrical components, including relays, solenoids, switches, and similar devices.
  • Positive attitude with strong teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASE Certification or Master Mechanic preferred.
  • Powertrain/drivetrain experience with disassembly and analyzing failed transmissions (Automatic and Manual), Engines, Transfer Cases, Axles, and related components.
  • General vehicle operating knowledge with all vehicle components.
