Technician - Test and Analysis

About the role

The Warranty Analysis Technician performs complete teardown analyses and testing in accordance with written instructions and established test procedures. This position requires understanding component functionality and applying proven technical expertise to identify the root cause of failures. The ideal candidate is a high-energy, hands-on individual with experience working cross-functionally and a broad understanding of the automotive engineering, manufacturing, and quality landscape. This highly visible role demands unquestioned integrity and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, remove, disassemble, repair, and evaluate components and related parts
• Perform fabrication duties as operationally needed
• Set up and operate test equipment on warranty-returned components to evaluate functionality, performance, and other operating characteristics based on customer complaint data and observations, following standard test procedures
• Conduct dealership interviews and utilize corporate data systems
• Collaborate with suppliers regarding their testing procedures
• Review corporate systems such as QNA and DIPAP, and assess related repair information to determine the root cause of complaints or failures
• Document daily findings and root cause analysis results within the Part Return Analysis System (PRAS)
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area and equipment
• Assist with special assignments as required
• Support other component areas as business needs require

Requirements

• Associate degree in Automotive Technology or an equivalent field
• Strong verbal, written, and record-keeping skills
• Proficiency with computer applications (Windows-based software) and digital camera operation
• Positive attitude with strong teamwork and customer service skills
• Experience using hand tools, bench tools, machine tools, and welding equipment
• Experience systematically disassembling and analyzing components and assemblies to determine root cause
• Ability to test and diagnose electrical components, including relays, solenoids, switches, and similar devices
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment to address component issues
• Willingness to support other component areas as business needs require
• Ability to operate a Hi-Lo/forklift and stacker

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE Certification or Master Mechanic preferred
• Powertrain/drivetrain experience with disassembly and analyzing failed transmissions (Automatic and Manual), Engines, Transfer Cases, Axles, and related components
• General vehicle operating knowledge with all vehicle components
