About the Role
Responsible for the highly skilled, discipline-specific technical operations of Special Effects (SFX) within Universal Horror Unleashed (UHU). Completes installations, routine maintenance, and repairs to ensure show quality and a positive guest experience. Ensures safety of self, guests, and other team members by adhering to state and company-specific safety standards. Provides installation assistance for set changes and special events, ensuring proper safety and design compliance.
Responsibilities
- Serves as key SFX Technician for Universal Horror Unleashed.
- Installs, operates, and maintains lighting and SFX equipment as designed.
- Ensures safe operation of SFX equipment per UDX and manufacturer specifications.
- Completes routine maintenance on all lighting equipment to uphold safety standards and proper daily operation.
- Assists with the operation of show/house SFX equipment and special events, including live show elements.
- Communicates and resolves technical problems with Entertainment management.
- Troubleshoots and assembles gear, ensuring equipment is functional and team objectives are met.
- Assists with daily maintenance of UHU to ensure all technical equipment is operational.
- Implements show quality and performance standards as defined by Entertainment and Technical Management.
- Creates and maintains a safe work environment.
- Facilitates and troubleshoots team objectives under the direction of Leads/Supervisors.
- Completes tasks with minimal supervision after initial direction.
- Communicates technical operation details to upper management and affected team members.
- Completes reporting through systems like Maximo to ensure effective shift communication.
- Maintains a working knowledge of electrical theory, industry standards, tools, and technologies.
- Completes all state and company-mandated training and maintains required license renewals.
- Actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities per UDX policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Pyrotechnics license is preferred.
- Consistent attendance is required.
- Obtain LVMPD Non-Gaming Work Card.
- OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain).
Qualifications
- 3+ years of special effects experience is required.
- 1+ year of experience in professional or themed entertainment is preferred.
- Associate’s degree in a related field is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
