Technician - Smoke/Prep/Physicals

About the role

The Senior Technician, Smoke/Prep/Physicals supports cigarette smoke generation, sample receipt, preparation, and physical characterization testing of tobacco, nicotine, and inhalable products in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain smoking machines and collection equipment
• Perform physical tests (e.g., moisture, density, particle size)
• Prepare reagents
• Verify equipment performance
• Review data for accuracy
• Troubleshoot equipment issues
• Support method validation and technology transfer

Requirements

• High school diploma with 2+ years of laboratory experience or an associate degree with 1+ year of laboratory experience
• Ability to work independently and mentor others
• Work in controlled lab environments and handle hazardous materials
• Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and teamwork skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience with smoking machines
• Sample digestion and physical characterization
• Laboratory systems (LIMS)
• Knowledge of tobacco product testing standards

Pay

$50,000 to $60,000 per year
