Technician [Signalling Maintenance]

About the Role

As a Technician specialising in Signalling & Telecoms, you'll work with equipment including signals that control when trains can run, level crossings, and points systems. You'll develop a wide range of technical skills across manual, electrical, and digital equipment while working outdoors in all conditions, day or night. The role involves demanding manual work, often in challenging terrain, and requires strict adherence to safety protocols, especially when working near high-speed trains.

Responsibilities

• Support essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly.
• Work as part of a team to deliver safe and efficient work, ensuring compliance with strict safety standards.
• Lead and motivate the team when required, ensuring clear communication and adherence to safety protocols.
• Role model safe working behaviours and challenge potential risks to safety.
• Inspect, fault-find, maintain, and renew signalling and telecoms equipment.
• Develop and maintain technical and non-technical skills through continuous learning.
• Work shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, in all weather conditions.

Requirements

• Experience of arranging and implementing safe systems of work.
• Knowledge of how to organise and control the safe and efficient delivery of work.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting, and renewal techniques.
• Willingness and ability to work shifts in all weather conditions.
• Must meet the required benchmark for application screening questions.
• Ideally hold an NVQ Level 1 or 2 (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline.
• Valid driving licence (category B) to drive Network Rail vehicles.
• Must live within a 60-minute commute of the location you are applying for.

Pay

£45,669 per annum.

Schedule

The Technician role involves a changing shift pattern, including days, nights, and weekends.

Additional Information
