Technician-Medical Laboratory
Responsibilities
- Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
- Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
- Performs quality control, proficiency testing and routine instrument maintenance and inventory control and document as required.
- Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
- Affords assessments, evaluations, and draws appropriate conclusions.
- Follows regulatory requirements, competency requirements and maintains safe laboratory practice.
- Completes assigned goals.
Specifications
Experience: Minimum Required - Clinical laboratory experience preferred. Preferred/Desired - Minimum Required: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited MLT program, or successful completion of at least a 50 week official US military medical laboratory procedures training course and currently hold or have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
Licensure: Minimum Required - National certification in concordance with current federal and/or state regulations. Full certification must be obtained within six months of hire date.
Qualifications
Education: Minimum Required - Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited MLT program, or successful completion of at least a 50 week official US military medical laboratory procedures training course and currently hold or have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
Special Skills: Minimum Required - Basic computer literacy. Preferred/Desired - Training preferred/required.
