About the role

Sunbelt Rentals strives to be the customer's first choice in the equipment rental industry, offering a vast fleet ranging from pumps and scaffolding to general construction tools, backed by a friendly and knowledgeable staff. The Mechanic role performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on equipment to avoid downtime, working on aerial work platforms, general construction tools, and, at specialty locations, large‑scale power generators, pumps, HVAC, and oil/gas equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment
• Conduct diagnostics and make repairs to minimize downtime
• Work on aerial work platforms, general construction tools, and specialty‑line equipment (large‑scale generators, pumps, HVAC, oil/gas systems)
• Maintain safety standards while servicing equipment
• Adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; some trade school or equivalent training desired
• 3 to 5 years of mechanic experience with diesel or heavy equipment, or specialty‑line equipment (large‑scale generators, pumps, HVAC, oil & gas) strongly preferred
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, and perform bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, and work indoors/outdoors as needed
• Must provide own mechanic’s tools of the trade

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of hydraulic systems and troubleshooting
• Advanced knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting
• Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Bilingual (Spanish or other) may be required based on location needs

Pay

Base pay range: $23.52 – $32.34 per hour
