About the Role
The Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing daily technical operations, providing hands-on support for equipment, systems, and installations, and leading a team of technicians to ensure high-quality service delivery. This role serves as the technical expert, troubleshooting complex issues, coordinating workflow, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within quality expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of technicians and support staff.
- Assign, prioritize, and monitor daily workload to ensure efficient operations.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on equipment and systems.
- Ensure quality standards, company procedures, and safety regulations are consistently followed.
- Provide technical guidance and training to team members.
- Coordinate with management, vendors, and customers to address technical requirements and service needs.
- Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, maintenance activities, and inventory.
- Assist with scheduling, resource planning, and project execution.
- Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Support emergency service calls and critical issue resolution as needed.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and company assets.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
- 5+ years of technical experience in a related field.
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to step splice multiple ply belting (2-ply, 3-ply, 4-ply up to 5-1500).
- Ability to finger splice lightweight PVC up to D-18 belts.
- Ability to strip and re-lag pulleys in place and/or in the shop.
- Proficient in rigging and equipment set up on belt changeouts.
- Proficient in splicing hot material belts.
- Maintaining and repairing Vulcanizers, Belt Winders, and various splice tools and equipment.
- Ability to lead splice crews on multi-shift, multi-day, and long extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry-specific certifications.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with maintenance management or work order systems.
