Lead small teams of cable installers, ensuring adherence to company safety and quality standards while coordinating personnel and timelines to complete projects.
Responsibilities
- Install work area outlets (floor/wall), terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount face plates and surface-mount boxes, and adhere to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards.
- Build closets: mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware, and grounding for racks, equipment, and cable.
- Complete all IDC connections (terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).
- Perform testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable.
- Identify active voice or data circuits.
- Assume responsibility for crew performance, provide training, and coordinate personnel and timelines to complete projects.
- Complete all IES Communications paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers).
- Adhere to and promote company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards.
- Perform other assigned responsibilities.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field, with demonstrated ability to supervise others.
- Proficiency with required tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves, punch tool with 110/66 block blade, and 6/8 position combo crimp tool.
- Proven skill in interpreting blueprints and project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
- Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
- Must meet company minimum driving standards and have adequate transportation to jobsites.

- Self-motivated, positive, and professional with the ability to create, develop, and implement project process improvements.
- Ability to act as company liaison for customer representatives.
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to read and write effectively.
- Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces; lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to endure long periods of standing, walking, or working in inclement weather.
- Sufficient physical strength and agility to lift and move heavy objects.
- Ability to see and distinguish colors, read small print, and hear/recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
- Ability to travel within the branch or regional territory as needed; regular attendance is mandatory.
Pay
$25.00 – $30.00 per hour.
