NSF is seeking a motivated Technician II for the Preparations Lab who enjoys hands-on, active work. This role is ideal for someone looking to expand their lab experience and grow within a certification company.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic laboratory tasks without direction, including making batch water, distributing and tracking samples, laboratory housekeeping/maintenance, and preparing or pre-treating samples.
  • Adhere to all corporate and laboratory quality control procedures and policies.
  • Perform exposure and preparation methods for varied product types.
  • Prepare all records (electronic data, folders, and forms) in a timely, thorough, and neat manner.
  • Use laboratory information systems and sample tracking procedures.
  • Work with various chemicals, solvents, acids, and bases using MSDS guidelines.
  • Coordinate subcontracting and outsourcing as needed.
  • Participate in work schedule rotations.
  • Provide input for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in your work area.
  • Assist in methods development as assigned.
  • Cross-train in other Preparation group sections to help manage high sample volumes.
  • Collaborate with other labs within the Ann Arbor facility as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Suggest, test, document, and implement process improvements.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Follow all safety and health policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory skills.
  • Ability to document data accurately in lab worksheets.
  • Knowledge of chemical names and formulas.
  • Ability to use basic laboratory equipment.
  • Perform laboratory procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to follow quality requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years of relevant lab experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Familiarity with quality procedures.
  • Familiarity with general laboratory equipment and procedures.
