Technician II

About the role

A Tech 2 is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing surgical devices, performing all repairs expected of a Surgical Device Repair Technician I, as well as handling more complex categories of surgical devices. All repairs are completed to the highest quality standards and in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Abide by all company safety, health policies, and procedures; use personal protective equipment as required.
• Complete safety observations per site requirements.
• Service, restore, and repair surgical devices, instruments, and equipment to specifications.
• Identify problems and use standardized and varied testing procedures to examine and test mechanisms for defects.
• Replace or repair defective parts and reassemble surgical devices or equipment, testing for conformance to specifications.
• Order routine repair parts and request parts from the stock room.
• Troubleshoot surgical devices and instruments within the role’s responsibility.
• Participate in developing and validating standard work instructions (SWIs).
• Perform inventory transactions and estimate repairs as necessary.
• Train other technicians in On-The-Job Training programs.
• Conform to company ISO goals and objectives, supporting ISO requirements.
• Complete workplace (5S) organization audits and lead Metrics Board Meetings focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of Technician I training and promotional requirements.
• Proven ability to perform intermediate repairs on surgical devices and/or instrumentation.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot surgical devices commensurate with training and experience level.
• Ability to meet flexible schedules, including early/late hours, nights, weekends, and outside normal business hours based on customer and business needs.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and push instrument carts ranging from 10-150 pounds at times.

Qualifications

• Vocational or Technical Degree preferred.
• Certifications in technical training preferred.
• Good eye-to-hand coordination and ability to assemble small parts.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and confidence.
• Ability to understand repair concepts and follow repair sequencing.
• Competency in role based on the Skills Matrix.
• Demonstrated ability to determine correct spare parts required for repairs.
• Understanding of parts requisition procedures for controlled inventory.

Pay

The pay range for this opportunity is $23.09 - $29.88 per hour. This position is eligible for bonus participation. Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than the range listed. Pay rates are based on factors including local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, and foreign language fluency.
