About the Role

This position serves as the mobile maintenance provider to fleet vehicles and assigned customers. Working primarily from a work vehicle, this role performs a range of maintenance activities, including identifying equipment issues and conducting intermediate preventative maintenance. The role is for a proficient technician capable of working independently in the field on most tasks, diagnosing issues, and recommending solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine preventive maintenance and intermediate level corrective repairs on equipment (diesel and/or gas engines, hydraulic systems, HVAC systems, etc.) in the field using proper tools and procedures.
  • Conducts intermediate level inspections, applies root cause analysis/Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and identifies recurring faults for management review.
  • Ensures all documentation is completed accurately and efficiently, including work orders, service reports, allocation of time, and tracking parts.
  • Assists with work orders, including opening, tracking progress, and closing them to support efficient and well-documented maintenance operations.
  • Maintains customer satisfaction, ensuring that customer needs and deadlines are met.
  • Adheres to all safety rules, contamination regulations, and maintains quality housekeeping in the work area.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years or more of mechanical experience with on-road fleet vehicles (diesel/gas engines, hydraulic systems, HVAC systems, etc.).
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Current DOT physical.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 years or more experience servicing on-road/fleet vehicles.
  • Class B CDL.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of power train, gas and diesel engines, and electrical systems.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening.
  • Strong multitasking abilities, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Professional demeanor with both internal and external contacts, including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers and people at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to learn CAT/MacAllister systems.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective customer and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills, with emphasis on relationship-building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Other Requirements

Works under limited supervision. Independently determines the approach to take and the methods to use. Interprets policy in terms of objectives. Informs manager of unusual situations with far-reaching implications. Major responsibilities typically require a modest amount of creativity and latitude. Employee typically operates under general instructions with some established procedures and policies.

If an error is made while in this position, it will require some effort to identify and can impact the company financially.

Maintains equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment, and to prevent accidents.
