Technician-Emergency Department II

About the role

To assist the nursing staff in the rendering of patient care by providing those services necessary for patient comfort and personal hygiene requiring little or no variation in routine. Also assists in areas of orthopedic care (including splinting), phlebotomy, accucheck, and 12-lead EKG. May assist with Unit Clerk duties.

Responsibilities

• Performs 12-lead EKGs, Unit Clerk duties, Accuchecks, application of orthopedic appliances, UDS/BAT, and urinary catheterizations as directed by licensed personnel.
• Assists in admission, transfer, discharge, lifting, turning, and ambulation of patients as directed by licensed personnel.
• Ensures supplies are maintained and areas adequately stocked.
• Rounds on patients hourly and as needed to offer and provide comfort measures.
• Assists with efficient turnover of rooms by stripping linen from stretchers, cleaning stretchers, returning clipboards to triage, marking tracking board appropriately, etc.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent (required).
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire (required).
• EMT certification (preferred).
