Technician - Emergency Department (24 Hours 3pm-11pm)

About the role

Under the direction and supervision of a professional registered nurse, assists in rendering nursing care in the Emergency Department (ED). Functions within policies, procedures, and guidelines of SMH in accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH), DNV, CDC, and OSHA standards, as well as any other applicable regulatory or accreditation agency.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to assist in providing care to patients; all approaches to a patient are sensitive to the patient’s age, culture, and potential disability.
• Meets all criteria associated with responsibilities listed in the core and unit-specific competencies for an ED Tech.
• Visibly demonstrates commitment to customer relations and all basic concepts of continuous quality improvement and preventing error from reaching the patient.
• Provides timely, positive responses to the needs of all customers including patients, families, co-workers, and physicians.

Requirements

• Positive interpersonal communication skills and good organizational skills.
• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.
• Ability to meet job performance expectations, including performing the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or others, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Required

• Demonstrates foundational knowledge and skills for patient care.

Preferred

• Previous nursing assistant training or related experience (EMT, Paramedic, nursing student).

Pay

Salary range for new hires: $19.85–$30.05 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include the value of benefits such as healthcare, dental, vision, and retirement.

Schedule

24 hours per week, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM.
