Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, and body components for heavy-duty and light-duty trucks, including gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems.
- Perform welding and fabrication as needed.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and conduct repairs and maintenance to ensure safe and productive operations.
- Review and complete repairs identified on DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) and/or repair orders.
- Communicate with managers and drivers about vehicle issues and discuss preventive techniques to minimize future repairs.
- Complete all required paperwork in a timely and concise manner.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
- Use vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Perform repairs using Factory Service Manuals.
- Maintain high standards of ethics and dependability.
Requirements
- Knowledge of suspension inspections, diagnosis, and repair.
- Knowledge of brake system inspections, diagnosis, and repair.
- Knowledge of electrical system inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
- Knowledge of hydraulic system inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and interpreting Service Manuals to make repairs.
- Ability to complete work within Suggested Repair Times (SRTs) and estimate time and material required for repairs.
- Ability to provide assistance and guidance to Assistant Technicians and Shop Helpers.
- CDL Class B (preferred within 12 months).
