About the role

Responsible for the hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimisation of Cash Processing Equipment (Banknote and Coin Counters and Sorters) to ensure maximum uptime, operational efficiency, and compliance with business continuity standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct repairs and maintenance of SBV machinery.
  • Support the Mechanical Maintenance Manager by executing preventative maintenance plans, responding to equipment failures, and performing machine sensor analysis to ensure stable, reliable performance of all machinery on site.
  • Conduct fault diagnosis and incident resolution.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and early fault detection.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance as per manufacturer standards and intervals.
  • Maintain an inventory of essential spare parts to enable rapid replacements and minimise equipment downtime.
  • Conduct and document monthly inventory audits.
  • Compile and submit daily and monthly reports on machine performance statistics, including uptime, downtime, and maintenance activities.
  • Align with SBV Services' ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Standards to ensure compliance.
  • Support SBV’s ESG journey by reporting on and managing ESG requirements.
  • Act as a change champion during periods of change to ensure continuity of deliverables.
  • Partake in a culture of performance-driven output through shared purpose, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience as an on-site technician supporting automated, electro-mechanical, or industrial equipment within a continuous operations environment.
  • Experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules, OEM standards, and site procedures.
  • Prior experience in a cash processing, banking, manufacturing, or other security-controlled environment (advantageous).
  • Relevant trade qualifications (e.g., Millwright, Electrician, Fitter & Turner) with practical on-site maintenance experience.
  • National Diploma or NQF Level 5 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline (advantageous).
  • Technical certifications or OEM training on automated or electro-mechanical equipment (advantageous).
  • Basic proficiency in computer literacy (MS Office or equivalent) for maintenance reporting and system updates.
