MC Squared is a professional consulting engineering firm specializing in Geotechnical Engineering, Geo-Environmental, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, and Pavement Design and Management with offices in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Our clients include DOTs, municipalities, state agencies, and large multi-national engineering firms. MC Squared has joined forces with Meskel and Associates Engineering, both part of ACES, an engineering firm founded in 1983 offering a wide range of specialized engineering services.

Responsibilities

• Site reconnaissance and call in utility tickets with GA 811 and follow the company utility damage prevention policies.
• Assist on Standard Penetration Tests (SPT), perform hand auger borings, rock coring, pavement coring, obtain groundwater measurements, log field testing results, retrieve soil, rock and pavement samples and bring them to our laboratory.
• Perform geotechnical laboratory tests on soil, rock and water samples.
• Maintain detailed, accurate field reports, test data, and photo documentation.
• Communicate daily with project managers and engineers regarding test results, progress, and any unforeseen conditions related to the field work.
• Follow all company and site-specific safety policies and maintain equipment in good working order.
• Use appropriate protective tools and PPE to ensure safety requirements are met.
• Prepare report appendices on a computer using Microsoft Office, Google Earth and other relevant software.
• Read and understand construction plans, cross-sections, and utility plans.
• Interact positively and professionally with other employees, contractors, clients, industry professionals, and residents/business owners.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• No work experience required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) — must be insurable by our auto policy (MVR check will be performed).
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to travel and remain out of town to complete the field work.
• Ability to carry around 50-75 pounds over small distances.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years within same or similar fields, such as CMT technician/inspector experience.
• Some college or college degree.
