About the role
The Technician plays a crucial role in the practice by providing essential data for doctors to deliver proper care and treatment to patients. Responsibilities include obtaining patient histories, conducting preliminary and ancillary tests, scheduling patients, preparing exam rooms, and assisting doctors during exams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by explaining preliminary testing procedures.
- Perform all preliminary and doctor-requested tests on patients.
- Assist optometrists and ophthalmologists with patient procedures.
- Cook up and monitor patient flow, effectively communicating delays.
- Prepare exam rooms by cleaning instruments and maintaining supplies.
- Ensure a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment for both patients and staff.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the office manager or team lead, and doctors.
Requirements
- Standing for sustained periods of time.
- Stooping, grasping, lifting, talking, hearing.
- Lifts up to 15 lbs. on a regular basis from floor to waist, 5 lbs. from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs. from shoulder to overhead.
- Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
