About the role

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It involves manufacturing, assembling, and supporting hardware testing for Blue Origin's launch vehicles, spacecraft, and launch facility systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build launch vehicles, spacecraft, and launch facility systems
  • Assemble a variety of structural, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanically actuated component sub-assemblies for New Glenn, and Engine’s components
  • Work with engineers to review design concepts, provide feedback for ease of assembly, and support development tests
  • Plan and communicate assembly steps for complex mechanical installations
  • Safely work with hazardous systems, containing chemicals and/or high pressure
  • Document and maintain accurate records, strict procedural compliance, and read drawings and prints
  • Use standard tools and basic fabrication equipment
  • Operate heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware
  • Use 3D measurement tools and Spatial analyzer/Verisurf software
  • Use 3D CAD tools (CREO is preferred)
  • Read and interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard

Qualifications

  • Excellent demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • 5+ years’ experience in aerospace or related fields
  • Ability to document and maintain accurate records, strict procedural compliance, and read drawings and prints
  • Ability to use standard tools and basic fabrication equipment
  • Experience assembling and troubleshooting aerospace, military hardware, or other related fields
  • Demonstrated ability to use standard mechanical tools, fabrication shop equipment
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Work Friday-Sunday, (5am-5:30pm) with potential for overtime requests
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders and stairs, and work in small, restricted areas
  • Lift and carry 25 lbs

Desired Experience

  • In launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and vehicle integration
  • A&P license or equivalent experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and integration
  • Familiarity with pressurized system safety for pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware
  • Experience with 3D measurement tools and Spatial analyzer/Verisurf software
  • Knowledge in the use of 3D CAD tools (CREO is preferred)
  • Working knowledge of a variety of rocket propellants, including hydrogen peroxide, RP, and cryogenics
