About the role

Yancey Bros. Co. has been the authorized Caterpillar equipment dealer for Georgia since 1914, providing comprehensive sales, parts, and service to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Offering equipment and support to meet changing customer needs.
  • Providing classroom and hands-on training for apprenticeship opportunities as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician.
  • Starting pay range is $18-$23 per hour with scheduled increases at 6-month and 12-month marks.
  • Providing a complete set of tools valued at $8,000 for apprentices to use during their training.
  • Full-time entry-level position with potential for advancement through the Yancey career development program.

About the Accelerated Apprenticeship Program

  • 4 months of instructor-led training with a group of up to six trainees.
  • Structured mentorship program through the first year of employment.
  • Includes a structured task/accomplishment check-in cycle.

About the Ride-Along Apprenticeship Program

  • 12-months of one-on-one training.
  • 6-months with a designated field service technician as your mentor.
  • 6-months in a shop environment.
  • Five facilitated classes covering engines, hydraulics, electrical, preventative maintenance, and air conditioning certification.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Meet Yancey Bros. Co. employment requirements.
  • Pass mechanical testing, background checks, driving record checks, and drug screenings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Desire to work in the Heavy Equipment industry as a technician.
  • Drive to learn new skills.
  • Safety consciousness.
  • Ability to multitask, problem solve, and provide superior customer service.

Skills

  • Previous mechanical experience preferred.

Benefits

Most of the work involves standing/walking and working in extreme weather conditions and around loud noises. Physical demands include operating and climbing underneath equipment, lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs, and wearing appropriate personal protection equipment.

Pay

$18-$23 per hour with scheduled increases at the 6-month and 12-month marks.

Schedule

Full-time entry-level position with potential for advancement through the Yancey career development program.
