About the role
Yancey Bros. Co. has been the authorized Caterpillar equipment dealer for Georgia since 1914, providing comprehensive sales, parts, and service to customers.
Responsibilities
- Offering equipment and support to meet changing customer needs.
- Providing classroom and hands-on training for apprenticeship opportunities as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician.
- Starting pay range is $18-$23 per hour with scheduled increases at 6-month and 12-month marks.
- Providing a complete set of tools valued at $8,000 for apprentices to use during their training.
- Full-time entry-level position with potential for advancement through the Yancey career development program.
About the Accelerated Apprenticeship Program
- 4 months of instructor-led training with a group of up to six trainees.
- Structured mentorship program through the first year of employment.
- Includes a structured task/accomplishment check-in cycle.
About the Ride-Along Apprenticeship Program
- 12-months of one-on-one training.
- 6-months with a designated field service technician as your mentor.
- 6-months in a shop environment.
- Five facilitated classes covering engines, hydraulics, electrical, preventative maintenance, and air conditioning certification.
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older.
- Meet Yancey Bros. Co. employment requirements.
- Pass mechanical testing, background checks, driving record checks, and drug screenings.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Desire to work in the Heavy Equipment industry as a technician.
- Drive to learn new skills.
- Safety consciousness.
- Ability to multitask, problem solve, and provide superior customer service.
Skills
- Previous mechanical experience preferred.
Benefits
Most of the work involves standing/walking and working in extreme weather conditions and around loud noises. Physical demands include operating and climbing underneath equipment, lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs, and wearing appropriate personal protection equipment.
Pay
$18-$23 per hour with scheduled increases at the 6-month and 12-month marks.
